Critic's Corner Wednesday: 'Justified' deserves accolades

By Robert Bianco, USA TODAY

?The newly anointed Top 13 perform tonight on American Idol(Fox, 8 ET/PT) ? but in a break with tradition, you won't be hearing them perform live.

The show taped tonight's competition in an apparent bid to fix last week's annoying sound problems and to give the judges another chance to settle into their roles. Though the move has clearly aroused some fan suspicion, it seems fair to grant producers one more week to tweak, as long as they understand that the appeal of the series and the integrity of the contest is tied to these live shows and to the fans feeling they are watching a relatively unvarnished performance with no edits and no retakes.

So get your act together and get on with it.

?Looking for great acting rather than singing? Look no further than yet another fabulously entertaining episode of Justified (FX, 10 ET/PT), which offers a tour de force of terrific TV acting, along with its quota of twists, jolts and shocks.

Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) follows the trail of some bad checks, while Boyd (Walton Goggins) deals with his scheming co-workers and Maggs (Margo Martindale) disciplines her wayward children.
