Brian McFadden got engaged to Delta Goodrem in 2007

Following Brian McFadden and Delta Goodrem's confirmation of their split, the ex-Westlife singer has taken to Twitter to thank his ex for their 7 years as a couple.

'I love delta and always will,' Brian, 30, Tweeted today. 'She is one of gods living angels. I thank her for giving me the best years of my life. Please give us time x.'

Back in February, Brian's loving Valentine Tweet to his fianc�e gave no suggestions their relationship was in trouble.

'Happy valentine to the most beautiful thing to ever arrive on this planet,' he wrote. 'My angel, my soul mate, my best friend, my life. @delta_goodrem x.'

But Delta, 26, never replied to the loving message and has not Tweeted herself since their break-up was announced.

The Neighbours actress turned pop star - who's believed to be in LA while Brian's in Australia - is said to have been the one who called time on the relationship.
