Brand, Wiig named PETA's sexiest vegetarians

Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig beat out a number of celebrity vegetarians in PETA's contest.

As it turns out, vegetarians are both funny and sexy.

According to PETA's annual contest for the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities, funnyman Russell Brand and "SNL" star Kristen Wiig take the top spot.

The off-beat jokesters beat out a number of genetically-blessed stars, including Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Jared Leto and last year's winner, Olivia Wilde.

According to the animal rights organization's website, both Brand and Wiig have "captured the hearts of many with their comedic charm and compassionate choices."

Brand, 36, who has been a vegetarian since he was 14, told PETA, "You shouldn't eat animals, it's mean to them."

In an interview with Women's Health, Wiig credited her vegetarian diet for helping her stay so fit and healthy.

"I'm a vegetarian. I eat a lot of tofu and soy," the "Bridesmaids" star, 37, told the mag. "I do have a splurge day once a week when I can eat whatever I want. It's good, because it helps you stay on track the rest of the week."
