Driver shot to death in 110 freeway attack

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Police Department has identified a man who was fatally shot on the Harbor (110) Freeway.

Detective Sal LaBarbera says Ivan Spencer was driving home from work at a gentlemen's club in Gardena at about 2:20 a.m. on Thursday when he was shot several times in the upper torso.

When the 55-year-old Rolling Hills resident called 911 shortly after 2:30 a.m. he wasn't able to tell 911 operators his location but his phone line stayed open and authorities were able to trace his phone's location.

Authorities found Spencer a few minutes later in a Toyota Prius on the transition road between Interstate 110 to State Route 91 in South Los Angeles.

He was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made.
